Sherry Bonnano

HoFoCo’s first-ever salaried Executive Director, Sherry began volunteering with the Coalition 20 years ago. During her time, Sherry has worn nearly every hat possible with the HoFoCo, from cooking meals to taking clients to doctor appointments to serving multiple terms as Board President.  Sherry brings to HoFoCo a profound concern for the welfare of those struggling, along with the tools needed to help make improvements in their lives.

Sherry believes that the strength of the HoFoCo lies in its ability to function as a coalition, where everyone feels welcome and accepted. She envisions HoFoCo as a community hub where agencies and partners can help our clients get support for their immediate needs as well as for their personal growth.

Patrick Hudnut

Program Coordinator

Patrick Hudnut returned to the Hollywood Food Coalition in his current role as Program Coordinator in August 2020, having been the HoFoCo Summer Intern for the summer of 2019. He wears many hats for the organization and works primarily with the development, marketing, and leadership teams. A native of Los Angeles, Patrick is a graduate of Kenyon College, where he studied philosophy and played on the men’s tennis team.

Administrative Assistant

As HoFoCo’s Administrative Assistant, Jill focuses on volunteer coordination and office management, including reminding volunteers that it’s their day to help, thanking donors for their generous donations, picking up mail, maintaining stats (meals, clients, donations, etc.), and coordinating projects. Jill began with HoFoCo as a Food Runner and has been with the organization ever since. With a background in theater and the performing arts, copy editing, teaching and tutoring, Jill has done it all – you name it, she’s done it. She could also be found, before the pandemic, leading visits at the Getty Villa as an Arts Education Docent.

Kitchen Manager

Matilde Riva, born and raised in Southern California to a Mexican mother and Argentinian father, has embraced the polarized beauty and the pioneering spirit of her parents. Her passion for the kitchen has led her to some of LA’s top restaurants including Bestia where she worked and learned the art of pastry.

That fast paced environment has been the groundwork for her current role at The Hollywood Food Coalition where she is responsible for making delicious meals with the various donations they receive from all around the city. From deep pockets to empty ones, the one thing we as humans can agree upon is nobody should be denied a warm meal.

Kitchen Day Supervisor

Joe comes to the Hollywood Food Coalition with more than 25 years in the food business with Acme Markets. A native of New Jersey, Joe has been working with the Hollywood Food Coalition since 2013. In his position as Kitchen Day Support, Joe helps prepare the vegetables, meat, and starches for the evenings meals.

Kitchen Night Supervisor

Erin Lovelace is an actor and works as the Kitchen Night Supervisor at Hollywood Food Coalition. Erin’s job works directly with the volunteers greeting and instructing them on the tasks of the day,  serving clients nightly meals and resources, kitchen cleaning duties. and food donation intake. Before Working for the Coalition Erin worked in the restaurant industry as a bartender and server. She performed weekly on the Chicago stages of iO and other theatres around the city.

Kitchen Weekend Supervisor

PattyLynn started volunteering with HFC in 2012 as a Lead Cook, 2017 joined the staff as Kitchen Asst – Weekend Lead. In this position, PattyLynn is in charge of Supervising the entire weekend kitchen operations. Including: Deliveries, Donations, Training Volunteers, Preparing & Disseminating Dinners for Salvation Army & HoFoCo clients, Organization & Clean Up, Creates and maintains necessary Directional/Informational Signs and Labels for clear kitchen communications. Hailing from the Blue Skies of Seattle, WA, PattyLynn has worked for NBA Basketball team, the Seattle Super Sonics, as VIP Guest Relations & Premium Seating Mgr and with the 1990 Goodwill Games. University of Washington Alum (Go Huskies!) And has 2 Fantabulous kids.

Marike started volunteering at the Hollywood Food Coalition in August 2020 and recently started working as a kitchen assistant, helping with meal preparation and nightly services. Marike is currently studying sports nutrition at UCLA extension and used to be a flight attendant based in Montreal, Canada.

Luke Field

Kitchen Support

Luke began volunteering at HoFoCo in June 2020 and was hired as a Kitchen Assistant in the following September. He estimates he’s made approximately 15,000 salads during his time here. Prior to this, Luke worked as a writer and comedian for the past decade, including a 4-year stint at the website CollegeHumor. Originally from the Philadelphia suburb of Hatboro, his pastimes include horror movies, heavy metal, and crochet.

Pierre began volunteering at Hollywood Food Coalition in April 2020 and joined the kitchen staff team in June 2020. After serving 18 years in Consumer Product Management, he  was furloughed whilst Stay At Home Order was in place. “Needless to say, I chose not to stay home but rather make myself available to our community and hold myself responsible through our social accountability with the Hollywood Food Coalition.”

Kathy Simanek

Kitchen support

Kathy started with the GWHFC (before it was HoFoCo) in 2010 to deliver excess items to other organizations. She worked her way up the meal prep tasks graduating to Friday Prep Lead. She substitutes for other prep leads and helps with service on an as needed basis. At special events like the Thanksgiving Turkey Bucks or LACC programs, she distributes HoFoCo materials for awareness, volunteers and donations. Pre-pandemic, she supervised a group of young adults on Wednesdays for food prep. She coordinates Pet Food supplies and distribution for our clients’ animals. A Michigan native, Kathy has a BA in French from UC Berkeley, an MA in Education from UMKC and a TESL Certificate from UC Berkeley.

Joe Coffey has worked in and out of restaurants for years.  Originally from Boston, he’s lived in Los Angeles 8 years now and calls it home.  He is grateful for the opportunity to work with some of the best people he’s met at HFC.  He believes the empathy and sincerity shown towards the clients is outstanding and he’s grateful for this HFC community.

Bryan Pauquette

Co-Director, The Community Exchange Program

Bryan has been working with startups since he was old enough to move a lawn mower around his neighborhood. From his early days of convincing adults to trust him with their lawn care to his work in production, fantasy sports, and nonprofits, his work has always reflected a passion for building and growing operations. He’s grateful for the opportunity to bring that same focus to The Community Exchange and The Hollywood Food Coalition, the best 34-year-old startup around. The most exciting part of his work is helping to centralize, organize, and grow food rescue efforts across LA County and create equitable solutions for all Angelenos.

Krys Grant-Ray

Community Exchange Program Coordinator

Krys Grant-Ray relocated from New York leaving the medical field shortly after she hoped to build strong community ties.   She was eager to build a bridge between organizations to meet different organizational goals and participants’ needs. By 2014 Krys found herself working in the space of community engagement and food security.  In 2019, Krys shifted her efforts from solely food focused engagement for volunteers.

Krys recently joined the Hollywood Food Coalition team in a role of Community Exchange Program Coordinator.  As a New York native Krys brings her ability to hustle, catch the vision and connect others to it in an authentic way.  With over a decade of experience she continues to strive to meet the food needs of communities.

Warehouse Coordinator

Maria spent nine years in the warehouse industry, before HoFoCo. Ensuring product moves down the pipeline in an accurate and efficient manner. This is the same experience she contributes to the Exchange Program.

Maria is  thrilled to be working for an established non-profit that has touched so many lives. “ It has always been a goal of mine to do something bigger than myself.  I believe that in our purest form, we all just want to be understood and cared for.  It is important to understand why we do the work we do to further improve the wellbeing of the marginalized communities we serve, taking our work from transactional to transformational.”

Genesis Napel

Warehouse Assistant

Genesis joined the Hollywood Food Coalition in November of 2020. After spending the Summer doing outreach in the East Hollywood community, he wanted to find a way to make a larger impact.  The reality of how much food is wasted has always astounded Genesis and fueled his desire to help solve the overwhelming need for food security. Genesis has worked as a biodynamic farmer, a circus coach and performer as well as a camp counselor. His experiences highlighted the importance for building community wherever he was. “Nothing brings people together in the same way that food does.”

Nick Murray

Transportation and Warehouse Support

Nick has been working with HOFCO since 2018 and helps plan the routes to the donors and vendors all over Los Angeles County, as well as physically transporting / loading in and out thousands of pounds of food everyday.

After delivering them for redistribution to the HoFooCo kitchen and other organizations, he works within the exchange program helping with inventory, as well as communicating to volunteers and organizing the kitchen throughout the day.

Nick is originally from Minneapolis, MN and is also a working recording / touring musician.
